Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Volker Lipp (* 1962) holds the Chair of Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Medical Law and Comparative Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Göttingen, Germany. He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Bergen, Norway, and at Chuo-University, Tokyo, Japan. He is honorary member of the Japan Adult Guardianship Association and became Doctor et Professor honoris causa of Eötvös Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary in 2016.
Volker Lipp was President of the 4th World Congress on Adult Guardianship in Berlin, 2016. He has been a Member of the Central Ethics Commission at the German Medical Association since 2010. In 2016 he has been appointed by the President of the the German Federal Parliament to the German Ethics Council.
His research focuses on law of persons and family law, medical law and civil procedure, and he has published and lectured extensively in these fields.
